What is PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is one type of mental health condition that directly follows trauma (and is an anxiety-related disorder). However, you may also develop other forms of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or other mental health conditions, in addition to PTSD/post-traumatic stress disorder.
Complex Post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) trauma is multiple traumatic events layered on top of one another, which can cause intense, disturbing thoughts and feelings, anxiety, and memories, long after the trauma ends. Those thoughts and emotions ultimately disrupt your ability to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.
When (single or repeated) events occur that make us feel extremely frightened, threatened, or distressed we may end up developing an emotional or psychological wound due to PTSD or CPTSD.
